Sheaf Tossing Championship
The Sheaf Tossing event has taken place at every Sutton Bonington Show and is still as popular today as it was the first year. Have a go at wielding the pitchfork and see if you have the 'knack' and strength to clear the bar. The best throwers can then compete in the Grand Final at the end of the afternoon for a fantastic cash prize.
This always proves very popular with the young and not so young. The sport of climbing is becoming more popular so we have a mobile climbing wall to allow you to have a go. The climber will be strapped into a harness for safety.
Wild Thyme Cookery Theatre
Matt Guy from the Local Wild thyem Cafe will be giving cookery demonstrations and classes.
Leicestershire Dexter Society Show
Dexters are the smallest British breed of cattle and are established as a dual-purpose breed with the average weight of a cow being some 350Kgs and standing approximately 36" to 42" at the shoulder.
The breed comes in three colours, predominately black, but also in red and dun. Being a mountain breed they are extremely hardy and can live outside all year round. Their size and versatility makes them an ideal smallholder's cow.
The Leicestershire Dexter Society will be showing a number of prize animals in their own area at the lower end of the field. Later, after judging the winning animals from each class will be paraded in the main arena and the cups and rosettes awarded.

The Terrier Racing, over the years, become a highlight, of the day's events. Because of it's popularity there is a change in the running this year.
The heats will take place earlier in the afternoon to find the fastest dogs to enter the final towards the end of the day. Dogs must be entered for the races at the information tent between 12.00 and 3.00.
Entry is £2 per dog. Listen out for announcements or check at the information tent on the day for more details. The winner will receive the championship trophy with rosettes to runners up
Doris, The Milkable Cow.
Doris has been present at almost all the Shows and we can depend on her quiet nature to allow anyone to milk her. If you have ever wondered whether you could milk a cow, come and have a go and find out. Whoever can relieve her of the most milk in the time allowed wins a prize.
Have-A-Go Clay Pigeon Shooting.
Especially set up to encourage complete beginners to try this popular and exciting sport. Experience for yourself the satisfaction of destroying a clay pigeon in flight. The team will provide a gun and personal tuition for each shooter. Low recoil, environmentally friendly ammunition is used, so all the family can have-a-go. Situated at the bottom of the Showground in the meadow area
This event is open to anyone who wishes to test his or her dogs' and their own agility around an obstacle course. The course has different types of jumps to test the fitness on man and beast. Have a go at any time throughout the day, with lots of prizes and a special prize for the fastest time. Who knows, next year it could be Crufts!
